First responders in the King of Prussia area will stage a mock drill simulating a train derailment this weekend Montgomery County officials said.

The drill at the Abrams rail yard along the Schuylkill River will start Saturday at about 7 a.m. and end about 1 p.m., according to the county.

About 150 responders with large fire and emergency equipment will take part in the exercise in which a train carrying Bakken crude oil, a highly flammable product, is involved. Firefighters will spray foam on a non-toxic smoke generated by a machine as part of the drill.

Crews from Montgomery County Department of Safety, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Regional Fire Task Force and Upper Merion fire, police, and EMS units, along with other state and local agencies, will participate.

Search and rescue boats will be in the Schuylkill River as part of the drill. They will be launched from the boat ramps along East Indian Lane in West Norriton Township.

North Henderson Road at Beidler Road and Beidler Road at Abrams Road will be closed to traffic for the exercise.
