Police in Bucks investigating reported road-rage shooting

Police in Bucks County are investigating an alleged road-rage incident Friday at Veterans Highway and New Falls Road in Bristol Township.

Police in Bucks County are investigating an alleged road-rage incident Friday at Veterans Highway and New Falls Road in Bristol Township.

The complainant told police that he first spotted the shooter, a white man with short, light-brown hair driving a small white sedan, on Veterans just before 11 a.m., the township Police Department said in a news release.

The motorist said he was heading north in a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck when the other driver tried to pass him on the shoulder, but could not. When both drivers neared the intersection of New Falls Road, the complainant said, he heard a "pinging" sound, looked in his rearview mirror, and saw the other motorist holding a black handgun, police said.

Police said no one was injured in the incident, and that the complainant called police immediately after the incident occurred.

During their investigation, police found two small circular indentations in the rear of the pickup. The complainant told police he wasn't sure whether he saw a real firearm or a BB gun. Police searched the area, but did not find any shell casings.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Bristol Township Police Department at 215-785-0500.

In a separate alleged road-rage shooting May 5 on the Blue Route in Lower Merion Township, a suspect was arrested last week.

Anthony Richardson, 50, of the Overbrook Park section of West Philadelphia, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and related offenses.

The victim in that incident, a Jenkintown man, was unharmed, but a gunshot penetrated the lower portion of his passenger door and lodged in the center console, police said.
