Police on Friday released video images of a man accused of shooting and critically injuring another during a robbery attempt in North Philadelphia last week.

There is clear surveillance video showing the alleged shooter in a nearby Chinese restaurant shortly before the shooting. Police also released surveillance video of the attack, but those images are grainy.

The robbery occurred about 1 a.m. last Saturday on 24th Street near Ridge Avenue. The victim, a 26-year-old man and another person were walking on 24th approaching Clifford Street when two men they didn't know came out from Clifford and tried to rob them, police said.

When one of the victims began to struggle with one of the bandits, the other robber - the man seen earlier in the Chinese restaurant - fired a gun, wounding the 26-year-old victim, police said.

The shooting victim was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Both bandits fled after the shooting, police said.

The shooter was described as black, in his late teens to early 20's and of thin build. He was clean-shaven and wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with the words "Wealth Club" in front, under a dark-colored winter jacket. He was also wearing light-blue jeans, and black New Balance sneakers with white trim, police said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS or the Central Detective Division at 215-686-3047, and can remain anonymous.
