Police: Pedestrian in Center City targeted by motorist

Police said a woman who was struck by a vehicle Thursday morning in Center City was intentionally hit by the driver, who fled the scene.

Police said a woman who was struck by a vehicle Thursday morning in Center City was intentionally hit by the driver, who fled the scene.

The pedestrian was at 16th and Vine Streets when the vehicle ran into her about 7:50 a.m. She was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where she was expected to require surgery, said police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little.

Central Detectives was investigating the incident as an assault, Little said. There were several witnesses, she added.
