Firefighters battle 2 blazes in city

Firefighters battled two house blazes in the city early Thursday morning. About 12:30 a.m., a fire broke out on the 6200 block of North 17th Street in Ogontz, and was put under control in about 20 minutes, a dispatcher said.

About 12:30 a.m., a fire broke out on the 6200 block of North 17th Street in Ogontz, and was put under control in about 20 minutes, a dispatcher said.

A woman was taken to Einstein Medical Center; her condition was not immediately known.

Another fire broke out shortly before 2 a.m. in a home on the 1800 block of East Monmouth Street in Kensington.

That blaze was placed under control in about 10 minutes. No serious injuries were reported, the dispatcher said.

The causes of both fires were under investigation.
