Police seek 4 in robbery, assault on Temple campus

Police on Thursday were searching for four young men who robbed and punched a man on Temple University's campus over the weekend.

Police on Thursday were searching for four young men who robbed and punched a man on Temple University's campus over the weekend.

The victim, a 43-year-old man, police said, was walking on the 1300 block of Norris Street about 10:40 p.m. Sunday when he was attacked. The victim is not affiliated with the university, Sgt. Eric Gripp, a Philadelphia police spokesman, said Thursday.

Police said the four assailants punched and kicked the man, and during a struggle, took the man's shirt.

Gripp said he did not know whether the attackers tried to rob the man of anything else. The assailants fled when an off-duty Temple police officer chased them away. The victim suffered minor injuries, police said.

The attackers were captured on surveillance video running east on Norris Street. They are then seen in later surveillance video walking and smiling.

The robbers were described as African Americans, 16 to 19 years old.

One was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt. A second was wearing an orange-and-black Nike hooded sweatshirt. A third was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt. And the fourth was wearing a dark-colored North Face hooded sweatshirt, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Central Detective Division at 215-686-3093.
