Police ID 2 Philly homicide victims

Police have identified two men slain in recent shootings in Philadelphia. The first deadly shooting happened early Thursday morning, when a man was shot multiple times in his torso on the 100 block of East Indiana Avenue.

The first deadly shooting happened early Thursday morning, when a man was shot multiple times in his torso on the 100 block of East Indiana Avenue.

The victim, identified Monday as 38-year-old Luiz D. Padilla, was taken to Temple University Hospital. He was pronounced dead there at 1:59 a.m.

On Saturday, 42-year-old Edward Jefferson died after he was shot in the chest in a vacant lot on the 1500 block of North 19th Street.

Jefferson was pronounced dead at 2:54 a.m. at Hahnemann University Hospital.

The motives for both killings remain under investigation. No arrests have been made and no descriptions of suspects were available.
