A 16-year-old girl was wounded when she was hit by a stray bullet overnight in Hunting Park.

A 16-year-old girl was wounded when she was hit by a stray bullet overnight in Hunting Park.

Philadelphia police said the shooting happened around midnight near 7th and Luzerne Streets.

The girl, who was outside a home, was not the intended victim and was hit by a stray bullet, police said.

She was struck in her left thigh and taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

The circumstances of the shooting and the people involved remain under investigation. Police were checking surveillance cameras from businesses in the area.

The shooting happened less than two weeks after another teenage girl was struck by a stray bullet while sitting on a porch in West Philadelphia. In that incident, 18-year-old Nadje Steedley died after she was shot in the chest on March 12.
