Three men were injured in a drive-by shooting Tuesday afternoon near a West Philadelphia charter school.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. at 55th Street and Pemberton Street, about a quarter-block away from the Boys' Latin of Philadelphia Charter School at 5501 Cedar Avenue, police said. No students were injured.

Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives said the school was placed on temporary lockdown for about two hours as police investigated the shooting.

Two men, ages 28 and 31, were shot in the left sides of their buttocks, while a third man, 34, was shot once in his left hand, said Officer Tanya Little.

All three are listed in stable condition at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Little said.

Police found a "shot-up" car, believed to have been involved in the shooting, in the 600 block of South 55th Street, Little added.

Walker said the three victims were "known to police" and were believed to have been targeted. But he said authorities were still working to determine a motive.

Police believe there were two men who got out of the car and fired shots before driving away, Walker said. They were last seen in a white SUV heading south on 56th Street. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 215-686-8477.

No arrests have been made, nor weapons found.
