The Philadelphia Fire Department recently put under control a six-alarm blaze on the 4600 block of Griscom Street in Frankford.

Crews have been out at the scene of the fire, which started at Joe's Auto Body repair shop, since about 9:35 a.m. Saturday. Officials said the fire was put under control at 2:03 p.m.

Fire Commissioner Derrick Sawyer said at a news conference at the scene that the blaze has been extremely hard to battle because of wind gusts and the cold weather.

One firefighter was reported to be injured. That person is in stable condition at Temple University Hospital. No further information was being released about the firefighter.

The fire spread to six other businesses, and 150 firefighters have been battling the massive blaze, officials at the scene said.

A firefighter at the scene called the site a "collapse zone."

As a precaution, one family who lives nearby was taken to a hospital. Two other families also had to leave their homes.

Because of smoke in the area, SEPTA officials said that the Margaret-Orthodox Station of the Market-Frankford Line, on Frankford Avenue, is closed.

All Market-Frankford Line trains heading to the 69th Street Transportation Center, at 69th and Market Streets in Upper Darby, are operating from the Erie-Torresdale Station, on Torresdale Avenue near Pike Street, SEPTA officials said.

SEPTA said shuttle-bus service will be in between the Frankford Transportation Center, at Frankford Avenue and Bridge Street, in Frankford, to the Erie-Torresdale stop. Passengers are cautioned to expect delays.
