Cabbie slashed during robbery

Police are seeking a thief who slashed a cabbie in the hand during a robbery in Queen Village. The 51-year-old driver picked the man up at 4th and South Streets about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday and pulled a knife as the cab approached 4th and Catharine Streets, police said.

The 51-year-old driver picked the man up at 4th and South Streets about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday and pulled a knife as the cab approached 4th and Catharine Streets, police said.

The robber held the knife to the cabbie's neck and demanded money, setting off a struggle for the weapon during which the victim's hand was slashed, police said.

The cabbie handed over $60 to $70 and the robber fled on foot, police said.

The victim drove to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where received four stitches and was released.

The suspect is white, 25-30 years-of-age, 5-feet-11 to 6-feet tall, wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and gray sweat pants, police said.
