Missing man's body pulled from car in Schuylkill

The body of an elderly man who was reported missing last week was found in a car in the Schuylkill.

The body of an elderly man who was reported missing last week was found in a car in the Schuylkill.

Authorities had been looking for 93-year-old Harold Leister since Thursday, when he was last seen at at his Pottstown home, according to Lower Pottsgrove Township police. His vehicle was also reported missing.

Police said Leister's 2011 Buick Lucerne was located in the water at the boat ramp along South Penn Street in Pottstown, near the Pottstown Quoit Club, on Tuesday afternoon.

Leister's body was found in the car, officials said, and police and the Chester County coroner are investigating how he died.

A citizen reported seeing the vehicle in the river at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Leister fell and hit his head the day before he disappeared, but did not receive treatment at a medical facility, authorities said.
