A Temple University security officer was injured just before he was about to start work when his personal car was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle Friday night, a university spokesman said.

Around 9 p.m., the officer was sitting in his car at 11th and Berks Street when it was struck in the rear and side by a vehicle that continued north on 11th.

The driver of the striking vehicle was stopped and arrested a few blocks away. The security officer was taken to Temple University Hospital to be treated for injuries to his neck and back that were not life-threatening. - Robert Moran
