Two people were killed and at least three others were wounded in a series of overnight shootings in Philadelphia.

Two people were killed and at least three others were wounded in a series of overnight shootings in Philadelphia.

The first deadly incident in the unusually violent night happened on the 3000 block of North Carlisle Street in North Philadelphia at about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Philadelphia police said 26-year-old Jeffrey Jarvis, of the Penn Area section of East Germantown, was found unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his legs and torso.

Medics took him to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:09 p.m., police said.

No information about the suspect in the killing was available.

Then, just after 11 p.m., a 49-year-old man was shot in the chest and shoulder on the 6600 block of Crowson Street in East Mount Airy.

The man, whose name was not released Wednesday morning, was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:19 p.m.

The suspect in the slaying, a thin man who was about 6 feet tall and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, skull cap and face mask, was last seen running south on the 6600 block of Crowson Street and then east on Horter Street.

Police on Wednesday were still investigating what sparked both fatal shootings.

About half an hour later, three people were wounded when gunfire erupted outside a North Philadelphia bar.

Officers were called to 27th Street and Lehigh Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Three people were shot in front of a bar, according to initial police radio reports.

Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters at the scene that at least five shots had been fired from a large-caliber firearm.

Further details about the incident or victims weren't immediately available.
