County website gets new design

WEST CHESTER The Chester County government website, www.chesco.org, recently adopted a responsive design that will automatically detect the visitor's screen size and orientation, and change the layout accordingly, the county commissioners announced.

That means that users will get easy navigation on smartphones and tablets, as well as desktop computers and laptops. Officials said it's the first of its kind for county government websites in the Philadelphia region.

They said www.chesco.org receives 4.4 million page views a year, and nine out of 10 people currently view it from a desktop or laptop. However, they said, nearly two out of three people own a smartphone, so it makes sense to make the site accessible to them as well.

"Citizens of a first-class county deserve a first-class website," Terence Farrell, chair of the county commissioners, said in a statement. - Inquirer staff
