Officials ID man who died after being Tased by SEPTA police

The Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office on Wednesday identified the man who died after being Tased by a SEPTA police officer this week.

The Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office on Wednesday identified the man who died after being Tased by a SEPTA police officer this week.

The cause of death, however, for Omar Miguel Lopez, 24, whose address was not given, has not yet been determined, said spokesman Jeff Moran.

Lopez died following an altercation with a transit police officer about 2 a.m. Monday outside the Huntingdon Station on the Market-Frankford El. The officer, whose name has not been released, Tased Lopez during a tussle between the two. Lopez was taken to Aria Health-Frankford Campus, where he was pronounced at 2:54 a.m.

The Philadelphia Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating the incident. - Jack Tomczuk
