Christie is asked to leave Amtrak quiet car

Gov. Christie was caught Sunday morning using his cellphone on an Amtrak quiet car. A passenger told website Gawker that when Christie boarded the 9:55 a.m. train from Washington to New York, he took a seat, "immediately started making phone calls," and became involved in an "intense" conversation.

The episode caused a media stir, with Gawker's account depicting Christie as screaming and being kicked out of the car.

Another passenger, Katie Klabusich, who described herself as "no @ChrisChristie fan," took to Twitter to dispute that account. She tweeted that Christie had been courteous and immediately ended the call when the conductor told him he was on the quiet car.

Christie spokeswoman Samantha Smith said in a statement: "On a very full train this morning, the governor accidentally took a seat in Amtrak's notorious quiet car.

"After breaking the cardinal rule of the quiet car, the governor promptly left once he realized the serious nature of his mistake and enjoyed the rest of his time on the train from the cafe car. Sincere apologies to all the patrons of the quiet car that were offended."

Christie, a Republican running for president, appeared on CBS's Face the Nation Sunday morning.
