Ursinus College farm is recognized

An organic farm at Ursinus College placed 12th among 30 sustainable college-run farms in a recent online ranking.

COLLEGEVILLE - An organic farm at Ursinus College placed 12th among 30 sustainable college-run farms in a recent online ranking.

Published last month by www.collegevaluesonline.com, the rankings were determined by criteria such as the size of the farm, sales made to the campus dining hall and other venues, and number of classes held there.

Brock Blomberg, Ursinus president, said the farm was a key part of the school's sustainability programming.

The 2.5-acre farm features bees, chickens, herbs, vegetables, and fruit bushes that both the students and local community members can access. Ursinus students visit and work at the farm as a part of their curriculum. - Khalil Williams
