Giant book sale in Camden County

CAMDEN COUNTY Library plans giant book sale VOORHEES The Camden County Library is having a sale that it bills as its largest, with more than 50,000 books, CDs, videos, and audiobooks available for purchase.

VOORHEES The Camden County Library is having a sale that it bills as its largest, with more than 50,000 books, CDs, videos, and audiobooks available for purchase.

The semiannual sale will run from Thursday through Saturday at the Voorhees branch. A book sale also was held last spring.

The event is expected to attract hundreds of people, said William Brahms, manager of the branch and chief organizer of the sale.

Most of the items will be priced from 50 cents to $2, and nothing will be more than $3, Brahms said.

Most items were donated by customers, collectors, and estates, he said. Used books from the library's stock account for about 10 percent of the items, he said.

"We are actually filling a void left by the changing book publishing industry, with fewer and fewer brick-and-mortar stores around," Brahms said. "This year, we will have 10 more tables than we used last year."

The library's spring sale surpassed its two-day record with almost $18,000 in sales. The library hopes to set a new three-day record.

The doors will open 10 a.m. each day and close at 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday.

The M. Allan Vogelson Regional Branch Library is at 203 Laurel Rd., across from the Voorhees Town Center.
