The award, one of five bestowed, is in recognition of the Scotts' work in raising awareness of and money to fight childhood cancer. The foundation is based in Bala Cynwyd.

"Who would have thought that a lemonade stand would evolve to what it is today?" said Liz Scott, whose daughter Alexandra was diagnosed with cancer before her first birthday and died before she was 10.

Since the first Alex's Lemonade Stand in 2000, the foundation has raised approximately $100 million to fund more than 475 research projects, PhRMA officials said. - Khalil Williams
