Cops: Woman posed as nurse to steal jewelry

Police are looking for a woman who posed as a health care worker to steal jewelry from an elderly woman in South Philadelphia.

Police are looking for a woman who posed as a health care worker to steal jewelry from an elderly woman in South Philadelphia.

When the elderly victim encountered the unknown woman in her home on Aug. 28, the suspect told her that she was a home care nurse sent from the hospital, police said.

The victim didn't recognize the woman from any past care she had received and asked more questions.

The suspect then said she needed to move her vehicle from a 7-Eleven parking lot and left the home on the 1000 block of Snyder Avenue.

After the woman left, the victim discovered that all of her jewelry was missing, police said. Officials didn't disclose the jewelry's value.

After the suspect left the home, she apparently really did go to the nearby 7-Eleven, where she was captured on surveillance video that Philadelphia police released Monday.

Anyone with information should call police at 215-868-8477 (TIPS) or send a text message to 773847 (PPDTIP).
