DELAWARE COUNTY

Theater's ticket booth has been restored

LANSDOWNE The Historic Lansdowne Theater Corporation will unveil its restored ticket booth Saturday as part of an effort to build excitement around the theater's eventual reopening.

Long the center of social life in the borough, the Lansdowne Theater has sat vacant since 1987. Backers of the project are working to restore the 1920s-era theater and turn it into a concert hall featuring classic rock and adult alternative performers.

The nonprofit corporation has worked to preserve the venue's original architectural integrity while restoring the theater. The restored ticket booth will feature detailing from the original booth, including stainless steel features installed in the 1930s.

The completely restored theater is expected to open in 2017.

The Saturday event is to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the entrance of the theater on Lansdowne Avenue. Members of the Delaware County Council and Lansdowne Mayor Anthony Campuzano are expected to attend.
