Someone stole a papal flag set up in celebration of the pontiff's trip from a home in the city's Taney section a few days before the pope arrived.

Philadelphia police on Wednesday released surveillance footage from the theft, showing the suspect's white SUV circling the area on the 600 block of South 27th Street.

The vehicle pulled over and someone got out and snatched the papal flag at about 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 22.

Anyone with information should call police at 215-686-8477 (TIPS) or send a text message to 773847 (PPDTIP).
