Bomb squad scrambles; finds inert grenades

Philadelphia police responded to a 911 call Saturday morning after two grenades were found in a plastic bag at the Village Thrift Store in the 2900 block of Kensington Avenue.

Philadelphia police responded to a 911 call Saturday morning after two grenades were found in a plastic bag at the Village Thrift Store in the 2900 block of Kensington Avenue.

A female employee called police about 8:57 a.m., after finding the grenades. The Bomb Squad was called in and determined the grenades were hollowed out and inert. Kensington Avenue was temporarily shut down between Cambria Street and Indiana Avenue.
