Two dead in separate Phila. shootings

Two men were killed in separate incidents in Philadelphia on Monday, police said. About 7:20 a.m., police found Eric Westbrook, 41, lying on the sidewalk on the 5300 block of Reinhard Street in Kingsessing. Westbrook had been shot once in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said they did not know the motive in the case and had no description of Westbrook's assailant.

Shortly before 6 p.m. the same day, police responding to a report of a gunfire on the 1500 block of South Corlies Street in Grays Ferry found two men who had been shot.

Anthony Green, 36, who was sitting inside a car, had a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. Green, of the 2100 block of North 8th Street, was taken by police in a squad car to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:19 p.m.

The second victim, a 28-year-old man, had been shot in the back and also was taken in a squad car to Penn Presbyterian, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Investigators have not reported a possible motive in the double shooting.
