Eleanor Moen McKinney, 84, of Brooklawn, manager of the former United Jersey Bank office in Gloucester City, died of heart failure Friday, Aug. 28, at Inspira Medical Center in Woodbury.

Born in Gloucester City, Mrs. McKinney graduated in 1948 from what is now Gloucester City Junior-Senior High School.

She began her banking career as a teller at the Gloucester City office of Camden Trust Co. in the 1950s, and stayed in that office over the years.

"It was basically the same bank; it just kept changing names," a son, John D. III, said.

"She never mentioned what the attraction was" about banking, her son said. "From where she was living, it was only a few blocks from the house" to the bank, just a convenient walk.

In the 1960s, she was a volunteer with a Girl Scout troop.

"She did everything from group leader to cookie chairman," he said. "We used to have hundreds of boxes of cookies in the house and we weren't allowed to touch them."

Besides her son, Mrs. McKinney is survived by sons Francis, Michael, and Steven; daughter Ginny Scout; a sister; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John D. Jr.

Viewings were set from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the United Methodist Church, 213 Maude Ave., Brooklawn, before an 11 a.m. funeral service there Wednesday.

Donations may be sent to Holy Redeemer Hospice, 150 E. Ninth Ave., Runnemede, N.J. 08078.
