The Bucks County Department of Health will release mosquito-control spray on Monday in Bristol and Bensalem Townships to fight the spread of the potentially fatal West Nile Virus.

Starting at dusk, the spraying from a pickup truck will focus on areas of Croydon, West Bristol and Cornwells Heights.

Specifically, all roads in Croydon between Route 13 and River Road, from Oak Avenue to the Neshaminy Creek, will be sprayed.

In West Bristol, the spraying will occur on Clover, Charles, Walnut and Belmont Avenues, and Neshaminy Road from Route 13 to Belmont Avenue. Also, Snowden, Belardley, Carnarvon, Dixon, Llanberis, Westminster, Park, Western, Westview and Westwood Avenues.

In Cornwells Heights, Williams, Dungan, Simons, Cornwells, Hopkin, Traylor and College Avenues are to be included, as are Ogden, Bowman and Finley Avenues from Cornwells Avenue to School Lane. Also, Gravel Pike, Rywal Lane, George Street, Kings Avenue, Hope Avenue and Regina Avenue.

The spray has low toxicity and should have a negligible impact on animals and the environment, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
