NORRISTOWN Two municipalities have renewed their contracts with the county to provide planning assistance on significant development projects.

Upper Dublin Township has approved a three-year, $35,532 contract with the Montgomery County Planning Commission to help with streetscape design in the Fort Washington Office Park.

Lower Providence Township's contract also lasts three years, and seeks the county's help on a land-use and zoning study in the Ridge Pike corridor. The study covers Ridge Pike from Evansburg State Park to the West Norriton Township border, and will cost $82,908.

County Planning Director Jody Holton said the agency expects to do a similar study for the West Norriton section of Ridge Pike, contributing to a more comprehensive "blueprint for improving a significant commercial corridor in the county."

Under the planning assistance program, costs are shared 50-50 by the county and the municipality. The contracts were approved Thursday by the county commissioners.
