At Monument Cemetery in Beverly, the chapel over the years "had fallen into disrepair," said Judith Hall.

But because of the work of Monument Cemetery Associates, she said, "they had that chapel three-quarters restored."

Her husband, James V. Hall, had been a member of the Associates board of directors since the 1990s. "His passion," she said, "was to see that chapel was completely restored."

On Sunday, July 19, Mr. Hall, 77, of Edgewater Park, a former financial official for his hometown, died of complications from Parkinson's disease at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro.

Mr. Hall was chief financial officer for Edgewater Park from the 1970s into the 1980s, his wife said, and business administrator for the township school district from the 1980s into the 2000s.

His wife, Edgewater Park mayor in the 2000s, said Mr. Hall was also a member of the township sewerage authority for the last 11 years.

Born in Palmyra, Mr. Hall graduated from Palmyra High School in 1956..

"He was a very quiet, dignified man," his wife said. "He really never sought recognition."

A member of the Burlington County Association of School Business Officials, and of its state counterpart, he was a grand knight of the Knights of Columbus St. Joseph's Council in Palmyra.

Besides his wife of 55 years, Mr. Hall is survived by son James V. Jr., daughter Kimberly Hall, two brothers, and two grandchildren.

A visitation was set from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, at the Church of the Sacred Heart, 103 Fourth St., Riverton, before a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass there, with private burial.

Donations may be sent to Monument Cemetery Associates, 813 Bridgeboro Rd., Beverly, N.J. 08010.
