A 29-year-old man was in critical condition Thursday night after being shot somewhere in Philadelphia and then showing up for help at a hospital in the city's Frankford section, police said.

The man was shot once in the left arm, and the bullet lodged in the left side of his chest, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. The man drove himself or was driven to to Aria Health-Frankford Campus sometime around 9 p.m. He was then transferred to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus.

Small said police were having trouble communicating with the victim because of a language barrier. - Robert Moran
