A former corrections officer found himself on the wrong side of prison bars Thursday, as he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in a series of violent home-invasion robberies.

Tyreek Styles, 27, was convicted last year on federal counts of conspiracy, robbery and using a gun during a violent crime stemming from a 2011 attack on the owner of an Upper Darby business.

Prosecutors said that Styles and two codefendants waited for the business owner to come home, before attacking him in his front yard, forcing him inside, and demanding money from his family at gunpoint.

At the time, Styles was working as a prison guard at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Philadelphia. - Jeremy Roebuck
