Fund-raising golf tournament set
BENSALEM The Bensalem Country Club will host a public golf tournament this month to raise funds for the National Fallen Firefighters Association and the Philadelphia firefighters' union.
The tournament, now in its eighth year, is one of about 30 that will take place across the country to raise money for the national association, the group said in an announcement.
Since 2004, similar tournaments have combined to raise more than $3 million. That money has been put toward scholarships, workshops, conferences, and training, the association said.
Tony Sneidar, a deputy chief in Philadelphia, said in a statement that he was looking forward to the event, "which benefits the loved ones and coworkers of firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice."
Tickets are $125 per player and include a round of golf with a cart, a golf shirt, a buffet breakfast, plus refreshments throughout the day and a dinner.
