A crash involving two trucks in Montgomery County left one person dead, set off an explosion, and spilled powder and sewage into the roadway.

Montgomery County dispatchers said the coroner had been called to the scene of the fiery crash between a tractor-trailer and tanker truck on South Park Avenue in Audubon.

The tanker driver became trapped after the trucks crashed, police said. Further information about the person killed wasn't available.

South Park Avenue is shut down between Egypt Road and Ridge Pike due to the crash, which happened just before 6 a.m., Lower Providence Township said.

Officials said the crash set off an explosion and fire. Further details about the circumstances weren't immediately known.

Hazmat crews were called to the scene, but no dangerous materials were thought to be involved.

One vehicle was carrying a cosmetic powder, while the other was carrying sewage waste.

Dispatchers said no evacuations were in place.

Township officials said the road was likely to remain closed for an extended time due to the accident investigation.
