A North Philadelphia woman accused of planning to go overseas and join Islamic State was indicted Thursday on federal charges of attempting to support a terrorist organization, prosecutors said.

Keonna Thomas, 30, who used the aliases "Fatayat Al Khilafah" and "Young Lioness," is accused of "knowingly and intentionally" providing information to Islamic State. She was arrested April 3, days after purchasing a plane ticket to Barcelona, Spain, en route to what authorities said was her true destination: a meeting with jihadists in Syria.

If convicted, she faces up to 15 years in prison. - Laura McCrystal
