CAMDEN A Rutgers-Camden history professor specializing in African American history and explorations of race and ethnicity will lead a discussion on American citizenship next month at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

Wayne Glasker, an associate professor whose specialties include the civil rights movement, slavery, and the Harlem Renaissance, will lead the town-hall event May 12 with Elizabeth Wydra, a Supreme Court lawyer. Glasker was director of Rutgers-Camden's African American Studies program from 1998 to 2011.

The discussion follows a screening of a documentary, 14: Dred Scott, Wong Kim Ark & Vanessa Lopez, "exploring the recurring question: Who has the right to be an American citizen?" the center said in a news release.

The film begins at 6:15. Family members, including a descendant of Dred Scott, are scheduled to participate, the Constitution Center said.

Tickets cost $7 for members, teachers, and students, and $10 for the public. Reservations are recommended and can be ordered by calling 215-409-6700.
