Man, 23, shot to death in West Philadelphia apartment

A 23-year-old man was killed in an apartment building early Sunday morning on the 1700 block of N. Preston Street in the Belmont neighborhood of West Philadelphia, police say.

Shortly before 1 a.m. police were summoned by reports of several gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found the 23-year-old man lying on the floor of a second-floor bedroom, shot in the head, neck and arm.

Medics rushed the man to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he passed away 14 minutes later. Police say the identity of the dead man will not be released until his family is notified. An investigation is ongoing.
