Police are investigating a double stabbing early Saturday during a heated argument in the 1300 block of W. Ruscomb Street.

A 53-year-old man was in critical condition after he was stabbed in the chest with a butcher knife at a friend's house. A second man, 41, was stabbed in the head while trying to intervene in the altercation but refused medical treatment, police said.

Officers were called to the scene about 12:38 p.m. Police said the 53-year-old lunged at a friend, 52, with an unknown sharp object. The friend, who was also armed, allegedly stabbed the 41-year-old in the head when he tried to intervene.

Both the 53-year-old and 52-year-old were still fighting when police arrived and the older man was then stabbed in the chest.

Medics rushed the older man to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. He and the 52-year-old are both charged with aggravated assault and other related charges. Their identities have not been released.

Police said the 41-year-old man with the head wound refused medical treatment and was taken to the Northwest Detective Division to be interviewed.
