Police have charged a Coatesville man they said robbed a bank in the city in August and then fled to Las Vegas, where he was later arrested for unrelated crimes.

Demetrius Aaron Hardy, 36, was charged Wednesday with one count each of robbery, making terroristic threats and theft for the Aug. 26 incident.

That morning, Coatesville police said, he walked into the Coatesville Savings Bank wearing sunglasses and a ball cap and gave a bank teller a note that demanded money and said he was willing to shoot.

He fled on foot with about $5,000.

Police identified Hardy as a suspect through cooperation with the Coatesville community and further investigation.

Hardy is in a Nevada correctional facility while he waits extradition to Chester County, police said.
