Nonprofits can receive grants for tourism

BENSALEM Bucks County's tourism agency is accepting applications for its annual grant program that allows nonprofit agencies that benefit from tourism to receive funds for projects such as website redesigns or developing visitor attractions.

The Visit Bucks County Tourism Grant has distributed more than $2.3 million since its inception in 2008, according to Visit Bucks County. It has helped kick-start initiatives such as an exhibit at the Bucks County Children's Museum and a self-guided barn tour at the Heritage Conservancy.

Tourism is a major industry in Bucks County. The agency estimated that tourism generated more than $877 million in local economic impact last year and supported nearly 12,000 jobs.

All applicants for the grant must be nonprofits in Bucks County. Applications are due by April 1.
