Students to donate homegrown food

LEVITTOWN Students at an elementary school in the Neshaminy School District will use proceeds from a $2,825 grant to plant a vegetable garden this spring, the district said in an announcement.

The students, at Levittown's Albert Schweitzer Elementary School, intend to grow 2,000 pounds of fresh produce to donate to the Penndel Food Pantry, the district said.

The grant was awarded by Lowe's as part of its "toolbox for education" program, according to the district.

The elementary school was previously awarded a grant through the same program in 2011, the district said. It used those proceeds to build a greenhouse. - Chris Palmer
