State legislators to be sworn in

Starting at noon Tuesday, those elected in November to the Pennsylvania General Assembly will officially be sworn into office in Harrisburg, including Rep.-elect Harry Lewis in Chester County's newest legislative district.

Lewis will take the oath of office to represent the new 74th District, which includes communities in Caln, East Caln, Coatesville, South Coatesville, Modena, Valley, Thorndale, Downingtown, East Fallowfield, Sadsbury, and Parkesburg.

"Right now, I'm excited and very anxious," Lewis, a Republican, said Monday.

Lewis said having an opportunity to represent the community in which he grew up would be a significant experience.

The retired coach, teacher, and administrator in the Coatesville Area School District said he plans to meet with his constituents soon to set priorities and develop plans of action.

Others set to take the oath of office Tuesday include State Sen.-elect Tom McGarrigle, State Sen. John Rafferty, and State Rep. Warren Kampf.
