Police: Knife-wielding robber shot at pharmacy

A security guard shot a man armed with a knife during a robbery at an East Mount Airy pharmacy Thursday night.

Police said the incident took place at 8:25 p.m. at the Rite-Aid at 8243 Stenton Ave. During the robbery, the security guard fired at the man with the knife, who was hit multiple times. He was in critical condition at Einstein Medical Center.

Police said a weapon was recovered from the scene - they did not specify which - and the robbery suspect was arrested. - Aubrey Whelan
