Professor to speak about stereotypes

RADNOR A Villanova University professor will be one of the featured speakers at Philadelphia Magazine's 2014 ThinkFest.

Kelly Welch, an associate professor in the department of sociology and criminology, will present "Inside Ferguson: Punitive Consequences of Minority Stereotypes."

The one-day event is scheduled for Friday at Drexel University's LeBow College of Business.

Welch will join speakers including filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan; William R. Hite Jr., superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia; Christina Weiss Lurie, co-owner of the Eagles; Alex Rice, coach of the Taney Dragons; and Nick Bayer, CEO of Saxby's Coffee. They will discuss the future of Philadelphia.
