Dorsey named SEPTA police's second in command

SEPTA has hired a former Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania police official as its second-ranking transit police officer. Mark J. Dorsey, 58, was named as one of two inspectors for the SEPTA Transit Police Department, reporting directly to Chief Thomas Nestel III. He will manage the special operations bureau, handling emergency response, crime abatement and quality of life teams, canine unit, detective unit, training and joint police task forces, SEPTA said Wednesday.
