Regional commission grants go to five Montco projects

An $88,000 grant will go to Upper Merion Township to develop a "linear park concept plan" adjacent to the King of Prussia business park. The linear park is part of the township's vision for rezoning the business park into a mixed-use area where people can live, work, dine, and shop.
Abington Township will get $60,000 to develop a master bicycle plan, including bike lanes, side paths, trails, and resources for cyclists.
The county Planning Commission will receive $50,000 for a countywide walkability plan.
A $48,000 grant will go to planners for a Riverfront Overlay District along the Schuylkill in Whitemarsh and Conshohocken.
The Bethayres area in Lower Moreland Township will get a new streetscape design to highlight its historic character. The corridor, running along Huntingdon Pike from the Bethayres SEPTA station to Buck Road, received a $20,000 planning grant. - Jessica Parks
