Repair of Route 232 in Bucks to begin next week

Repair of Route 232 to begin

DOYLESTOWN Flush with the $2 billion in transportation funding Pennsylvania lawmakers passed last fall, PennDot is beginning to repair roadways throughout the region, including a long stretch of Route 232 in Bucks County.

Work will begin next week to repave the roadway through much of central Bucks, from Wrightstown through Upper Makefield and Solebury to New Hope. About 4,000 vehicles travel that stretch every day, said PennDot spokesman Charlie Metzger.

"This road is pretty rough," he said. "You can see three different-colored layers of patching."

The work is one of the first projects to commence after Harrisburg's passage of Act 89 last year. The state's new transportation funding plan will help improve bridges and roadways throughout the state.
