New digs for blind association

NORRISTOWN After 19 years in North Wales, the Montgomery County Association for the Blind is returning to its roots in Norristown.

The nonprofit, which provides services, education, and advocacy for people with impaired or no vision, sold its North Wales office and is leasing new space in Norristown's New Life Plaza at 25 E. Marshall St.

"The space is close to the train station, local bus stops, and will be easy access for our clients to travel safely and independently," the association said in a news release.

The association started in Norristown in 1945, and at one point was on Marshall Street.

"We are pleased to be going back to our original home," said chief executive Allen Connely. "All of the programs and services will remain the same. . . . We will just be in a new location."
