Son wounded, mother arrested in E. Germantown shooting

A 45-year-old man was in critical condition after being shot Friday night in the city's East Germantown section, police said.

A 78-year-old woman was arrested Friday night after police said she shot her 45-year-old son in the city’s East Germantown section.
And the son, who was initially listed in critical condition but was upgraded to stable, was being held as a prisoner at Einstein Medical Center for possibly shooting at his mother.
Shortly after 9 p.m. in the 5700 block of McMahon Street, police found the man shot once in the abdomen inside a three-story twin that he shares with his mother, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. The victim was transported by police to Einstein. The mother was taken into custody.
Small said investigators were waiting for a search warrant to get the mother’s gun, which she put into a drawer in her second-floor bedroom.
Based on preliminary information, police believe the mother and son had an altercation and the woman got her gun, “firing one shot, maybe more,” Small said.
