A 9-year-old boy riding a bicycle was in critical condition after being struck by a truck Monday afternoon in the city's Kensington section, police said.

A gold Chevrolet Silverado with Pennsylvania tags hit the child on Frankford Avenue at Elkhart Street around 5:40 p.m. Three males in the truck were reportedly going to take the boy to the hospital when they flagged down a police cruiser. The boy was taken by 24th District police to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.

After officers left with the child, the males in the truck drove away but later showed up at the hospital, police said. - Robert Moran
