Combined reward increased to $50,000 in case of dead jogger

As detectives continued to search for clues in the killing of a Northeast Philadelphia woman, the total reward money for information in the case has been increased to $50,000.

Constance McClain-Murray, a 46-year-old mother of two girls, went for a jog Monday evening around 9 in Pennypack Park. She was found dead the next morning by a woman walking her dog in the park.

On Friday, the Philadelphia Parking Authority and District Council 21, Painters and Allied Trades, offered a combined $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. McClain-Murray's brother Kevin McClain is a longtime PPA employee.

That's in addition to another $15,000 from the Fraternal Order of Police and the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union that will also be awarded upon an arrest in the case.

The city offers a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in every homicide.

On Friday, homicide Capt. James Clark said detectives were chasing down several tips and scouring the park for clues - including McClain-Murray's cellphone, which is missing.

The division's Special Investigations Unit has been "working around the clock," he said.

Detectives are also reviewing surveillance footage from the area. Police found a video that showed McClain-Murray briefly speaking to someone in a car, which then drove away, Clark said.
